Nervous tissue is capable of sending and receiving electrochemical signals.
there are two main types of cells:

1.  Neurons receive/send information via electrochemical signals called neurotransmitters.
2. Neuroglia (glial cells) maintain homeostasis, produce myelin, and support/protect neurons.
